Collection: Ugly Rugly

Ugly Rugly was founded in 2018 as a project to explore unconventional rugs and product design using tufting and rope coiling techniques. The goal is to create objects and interiors full of personality! Ugly Rugly aims to make soft objects for a hard world.

Lauren Hansen is a Fashion Designer obsessed with textile arts. Cole Hansen is a Photographer turned tufting master. They met at California College of the Arts in the Bay Area where they both earned a BFA and reunited after moving to NYC. They were married in 2017.

Ugly Rugly is currently based in Ridgewood, Queens. We do much of our production in house, but proudly partner with a manufacturer in India. We’re committed to furthering responsible manufacturing practices domestically and abroad. Ugly Rugly loves to push the mediums they work with and explore new crafts as much as possible!
