Fire Cider is a spicy, garlicky, alcohol-free folk immunity remedy that can be taken daily to ward off the sniffles. Ours is made with an array of expectorant† medicines, grown in our bio-region in NY, that will make your taste buds stand at attention. With apple cider vinegar—the traditional fire cider base—as our medium, this batch contains Black Radish, Garlic, Onion and Scotch Bonnet Pepper from Norwich Meadows Farm, Ginger and Horseradish from Lani’s Farm, honey from Tremblay Apiaries, Sage that we grew in our garden, Thyme from our local food coop and Purple Bee Balm from the Queens County Farm Museum.
To use: Take one tablespoon per day to keep the sniffles away
Ingredients: Apple cider vinegar*, Black Radish*, Ginger*, Onion*, Garlic*, Scotch Bonnet Pepper*, Horseradish*, Sage, Purple Bee Balm* Thyme* and honey
†Expectorant herbs and foods help to thin mucus, which can be a breeding ground for pathogens in the lungs and bronchiole when in excess
But wait: fire cider is not to be confined to the apothecary!
